Shortly after the birth, Walakifina’s mum realised that her baby was blind. But she couldn’t even afford the bus fare to the optician. Fortunately, Walakifina was given a free lift to the eye clinic in Moshi, Tanzania. She had the operation there free of charge.

WHAT JUSTSEE
FOCUSES ON
Our partner eye clinics in the Congo, Burundi and Tanzania are well equipped to perform cataract surgery. Nevertheless, many cataract patients still go blind. Because they don’t know that treatment is available. Or because they can’t afford it. Yet a 20-minute operation could save them.
JustSee fights this injustice. With a well-planned process from start to finish, in collaboration with local partners. We inform people about blindness caused by cataracts. We actively screen for cataract patients in the communities. We then refer them to our partner eye clinics. We ensure that they receive surgery and aftercare, and glasses if needed. Completely free of charge where necessary. That way, no one is left in the dark.
Focus on blind women and children
We are particularly keen to help blind women and children with cataracts in both eyes. Women are often excluded from medical care. The likelihood of them ever visiting an ophthalmologist themselves is much lower than for men. In children with cataracts, early treatment is of vital importance. If they remain blind for too long, they will never see properly again, even after an operation. The sooner they have an operation, the greater the chance that they will regain good vision. That is why we act quickly when it comes to children. Because every day counts.

In Africa, few people realise that cataracts can be treated. As a result, many people are unnecessarily blind. JustSee actively seeks out people who have lost their sight due to cataracts, even in remote villages.
With a donation of 30 euros, you can help someone get screened for cataracts. That way, they can have eye surgery. Thank you!
People with poor eyesight are less likely to have access to education, employment and a normal life. Glasses that help you see clearly really do make a huge difference.
For 60 euros, you can buy a pair of glasses for someone with poor eyesight. This is how you give people the chance of a whole new life. Thank you very much!
In Africa, many people are blind due to cataracts caused by poverty. They cannot afford eye surgery. It is mainly adult women who are affected by this.

ABOUT OUR NEW NAME
Our Belgian organisation, Light for the World, operated under the umbrella of the international Light for the World Federation. From 2026, we are determined to chart our own new course under the name JustSee, with a focus on the fight against cataract blindness. This could quickly make a difference to a large group of blind people, including many children. We are drawing on our many years of experience in the field to overcome the biggest obstacles to cataract surgery: a lack of awareness and financial constraints.
We will add up your donations to Light for the World and JustSee in 2026. You will receive a tax certificate for the total amount in early 2027. Your tax certificate for 2025 remains valid as our name only changed this year.
If the name of the payee on your direct debit or standing order was ‘Light for the World’, it will be automatically updated to ‘JustSee’. You will see this on your bank statements. You don’t need to do anything yourself.
